From the note they can only determine the last name of the person abducted, but they also find heart medicine and by calling various hospitals they find the family. After speaking with the family and gathering clues they find out that the motorcyclist had an accomplice. The son-in-law of the kidnapped man was constantly being berated by his father-in-law, and recently his wife started to lose faith in him it seems. Conan begins to suspect the son-in-law and they are able to find the man in time to give him the medicine. Conan tranquilizes Kogoro and deduces that the son-in-law was responsible for the kidnapping. He admits to the kidnapping, and sadly it is revealed that neither his father-in-law nor his wife harbored any ill-feelings toward him (he was trying to be strict with him so that he would be able to inherit the family business).
